How to care for your jewelry
Gold jewelry care: For *gold plated or rose gold plated jewelry, typically warm soapy water followed by a generic micro-fiber cloth will clean your pieces. Avoid using shirts, towels, paper towel or even tissue to polish. These can be abrasive and scratch your gold plated jewelry.
*What does gold plated or gold filled mean? Gold and rose gold plated or filled are layers of gold pressure bonded to a base metal. It is becoming a very popular alternative to solid gold, as it’s more durable, affordable and versatile.
Sterling Silver jewelry care: Tarnishing naturally occurs in sterling silver jewelry. Depending on the acidity in your skin, your sterling silver might need cleaned weekly or perhaps only once a month.
To clean sterling silver I recommend warm soapy water followed by a generic micro-fiber cloth. To remove tarnish I recommend this polishing cloth, available in my boutique. Again, avoid using shirts, towels, paper towel or even tissue to polish jewelry. These can be abrasive and can cause more harm than good.
Additional care: It is recommended that you remove your jewelry during physical activities such as exercising, gardening, cleaning and swimming. Remove your jewelry while applying all types of beauty products, including lotions, perfumes, makeup and hairsprays. Also avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine, pools, hot tubs and spas. Sulfur is very corrosive and should be avoided.
